About Us
The Department of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at Malatya Turgut Özal University was established in 2023 to offer a four-year undergraduate program and welcomed its first students in the 2023–2024 academic year.
With the goal of preserving and transmitting to future generations all kinds of heritage that reflect the cultural diversity of Turkey and Mesopotamia in their original form, our mission is to teach the necessary conservation and restoration techniques, to train experts of national and international caliber to work in this field, and to ensure that conservation and restoration processes are carried out according to contemporary standards. We are committed to implementing high-quality educational programs that contribute to the systematic and sustainable preservation of our country’s cultural and historical wealth.
Upon completing the four-year program, our graduates—well-versed in identifying materials used in artifacts from the Stone Age to the present through advanced analytical methods, understanding the causes of deterioration, and applying proper conservation and restoration techniques—become experts who embrace interdisciplinary collaboration. They have the opportunity to work in various fields related to cultural heritage preservation and restoration within the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and local administrations, as well as in different departments of state and private museums.
