Objective

Our department was established in 2023 to offer a four-year undergraduate program and admitted its first students in the 2023–2024 academic year. The program was designed to serve the protection and restoration of Turkey’s cultural assets, particularly covering the eastern and southeastern regions of the country.

BECOMING A STRONG DEPARTMENT IN EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Objectives:

• Increase the department’s visibility and preference rate in national university placement exams.

• Promote the scientific achievements of academic staff and students.

• Ensure greater media (print, visual, and social) visibility for the department’s activities and achievements.

• Keep the department’s website regularly updated.

Indicators:
Number of media announcements about faculty and student achievements; number of media features on departmental activities per year; frequency of website updates.

ENSURING CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT IN EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Objectives:

• Train students capable of national and international success through program and course learning outcomes.

• Increase student academic success rates and satisfaction levels.

• Enhance the effectiveness of course assessment and evaluation methods.

• Promote student exchange programs with national and international institutions.

• Enrich students’ professional knowledge and experience through theoretical and practical courses, technical trips, and seminars.

• Encourage participation in national and international symposiums, seminars, competitions, and exhibitions.

Indicators:
Implementation rate of the education plan; student success rate; student satisfaction rate; number of student meetings; student exchange statistics; number of technical trips and seminars; number of event announcements; student participation in competitions and related events.

HAVING A QUALIFIED AND DIVERSE ACADEMIC STAFF

Objectives:

• Continue academic staff development and capacity-building efforts.

• Increase both the quantity and quality of publications indexed in national and international databases.

• Increase the number and quality of R&D and applied projects.

• Encourage participation in national and international academic events.

• Promote faculty exchange with national and international institutions.

Indicators:
Annual increase in faculty members; yearly publication output; number of R&D and applied projects; participation in academic events; membership in organizing or scientific committees; number of academic exchanges nationally and internationally.

BECOMING A STRONG DEPARTMENT IN TERMS OF PHYSICAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL INFRASTRUCTURE

Objectives:

• Develop facilities and infrastructure for practical education.

• Upgrade the physical and technological infrastructure of conservation and restoration workshops.

• Enhance the Conservation Laboratory’s facilities and technology.

Indicators:
Number of workshops ready for training; number of laboratory projects conducted; new equipment and software acquired for laboratories and workshops.

Theoretical Education Facilities:

• Increase the number of classrooms.

• Improve their physical and technological infrastructure.

Indicators:
Growth rate in the number of classrooms; number of classrooms renovated or upgraded.

BECOMING A STRONG DEPARTMENT IN RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Objectives:

• Encourage faculty members to conduct short- and long-term international research for academic and personal development.

• Support applications for scientific research projects.

• Strengthen collaboration within and outside the institution, fostering interdisciplinary research.

Indicators:
Number of international research support announcements; number of project applications; number of interdisciplinary collaborations.

Enhancing National and International Recognition:

• Promote joint educational and academic collaborations at national and international levels.

• Encourage and expand exchange programs for students and faculty members.

BEING A PARTICIPATORY AND INCLUSIVE DEPARTMENT IN ITS FIELD

Objectives:

• Strengthen communication and cooperation with internal and external stakeholders.

• Ensure continuous participation of stakeholders in departmental activities.

• Encourage partnerships with public institutions, the private sector, NGOs, and educational institutions related to the field.

Indicators:
Number of joint events (seminars, workshops, technical trips, etc.) with stakeholders; number of collaborative projects with partners.

Raising Social Awareness:

• Deliver volunteer-based seminars to raise public awareness.

• Organize activities for children and youth to increase awareness of cultural heritage and conservation.
